Meet Caroline Bagga: Founder and Principal Yoga Teacher
I’m Caroline, mum to two gorgeous girls! I’ve been practicing yoga for 16 years and teaching for eight. I set up Mother Nurture Yoga in 2012 to help mums-to-be enjoy the benefits of yoga and prepare for labour and birth. I cater for all levels and abilities and all stages of pregnancy from 8 weeks to 40+ weeks!
I have experienced first-hand the benefits of Pregnancy Yoga and am passionate about teaching mums-to-be to learn and use yoga poses, breathing and meditation throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth. My mission is to empower all pregnant women to experience a joyful and rewarding birth.
I personally have experienced two very different types of births – the first a ‘post-dates’ hospital induction followed by an ‘emergency’ caesarean, and in 2014 a beautiful home water birth. While the first birth was less than ideal, it was the trigger for me to start to really understand the physical and mental aspects of birth which allowed me to take control and create my ideal birth experience the second time around. Throughout my lessons I try to share some of these learnings with you.
I am passionate about my own home yoga practice and love helping other women to be able to take their yoga practice out of the yoga studio and into their own home and daily lives. This is essential when you become a mum as it is often really hard to find time to get to a yoga class, so a few stretches or a simple meditation can really help to get you through the day.
I discovered yoga in 1999, while working for an accountancy firm in London which offered free lunchtime yoga classes. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I tried it out and became hooked! It wasn’t until I moved to Australia in 2005 that I really started getting serious about my yoga practice, attending classes at Elixr 3 – 4 times a week. In 2008 I undertook teacher training with Amanda Fuzes at the Rose Bay Yoga Room. The following year, I studied with Trevor Tangye at Elixr, also undertaking Simon Borg-Olivier’s anatomy course. During 2010 and 2011, I practised Mysore style (self practice) Ashtanga yoga at Jois Yoga in Bondi. Prior to founding Mother Nurture Yoga I taught Prenatal, Hatha and Ashtanga yoga at various studios in Sydney, including the Rose Bay Yoga Room, YogaSam, Paddington RSL, Hills Yoga in Castle Hill and the Pregnancy & Parenting Centre in Baulkham Hills.
