Growth Problems
Growth problems may be caused by such things as familial short stature, constitutional growth delay (“late bloomers”), nutritional deficits, chronic medical conditions, diseases of the endocrine system, Turner syndrome, dwarfism, growth hormone deficiency, skeletal abnormalities, chromosomal abnormalities, and tall stature. Some growth problems have unknown causes. Growth problems are usually diagnosed if a person is growing less than two inches or five centimetres per year. The treatment depends on the specific growth problem. However, options may include growth hormone replacement, other hormone therapy, nutritional therapy, and treating any underlying medical disorders.
