I discovered both the joys and the true potential of effective counselling when I began working as a Case Manager in learner support services for an Adelaide based VET sector provider. Being a resource person for a diverse cohort of students aged 18-64 opened a window on the barriers they faced, from challenges related to language, ability and socio-economic factors to personal and mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.

In this role I learned to identify the things that hold many of us back and to focus on finding ways to move forward. This involved a more nuanced understanding of the ways certain behaviours can impact us negatively and, from there, developing strategies for self-managing negative or unhelpful thoughts. As such, I have been privileged to witness many a student’s journey, from tackling their concerns around study to getting results, passing the test and earning their qualification.

Through both lived and learned experience, and a hands-on approach with students over the past few years, I have realised my true passion is here. Inspired, I completed a Diploma of Counselling.

My approach is essentially person centred and solution focused and, therefore, all about YOU. My role is to create a space for you to uncover a viable path out of the places you no longer wish to be. In particular, I have an interest in assisting those struggling with grief and loss.
