About me - Jane Southwell
Jane began practising yoga some 15 years ago to combat the stresses of a corporate legal career and expanded her practice and experience widely through different styles of yoga including Hatha, Iyengar, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Oki-Do and Shadow Yoga, before completing a Diploma of Teaching Hatha Yoga through Dharma Yoga Health Centre, East Bentleigh, in July 2008. She moved from Melbourne to the Ballarat region 10 years ago.
Jane discovered meditation through a yoga teacher in 2004 and has developed her understanding and experience through her own regular practice and participation in various meditative forms (Vipassana, Kriya Yoga) and Wu Tao (a dancing meditation). She was trained by The Gawler Foundation to teach their 8 week Mindfulness-based Stillness Meditation program, a comprehensive practical program teaching meditation skills through a gentle blend of theory and practice. For 5 years, she has been involved in a program run by Dr Craig Hassed teachingmindfulness meditation to first year medical students as part of Monash University's Health Enhancement Program.
Jane believes that incorporating gentle exercise, relaxation and mindfulness meditation into everyday life brings balance to often over-busy lives and provides us with the opportunity to experience vitality of body, clarity of mind and deep release from the stresses of life, aiding self-healing and sustainable well-being.
Qualifications
- Diploma of Teaching Hatha Yoga

- Endorsed Teacher of The Gawler Foundation's Mindfulness-based Stillness Meditation Program
