What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is safe, convenient and effective. When deeply relaxed, the subconscious mind can be easily accessed. Positive suggestions can be dropped into it and assimilated by it. Positive changes on the physical, mental and emotional level can then start to ensue.
People experience hypnotic states while involved in a range of every day activities: have you ever got in the car and arrived at your destination whiteout even realising it? Have you ever been totally enthused in one of your favourite activities, to the point of not noticing what was happening around you? Have you ever sat in front of the television and only after a while realised that the person sitting next to you had been trying to get your attention for a while? If the answer is ‘yes’, you may be surprised to know that you have been experiencing the hypnotic state! If the answer is ‘no’, there is no need to worry: chances are you can still be able to experience the hypnotic state under therapy. It is important to know that while under hypnosis, you are still conscious and able to come out of it at your own will if you feel in any way uncomfortable.
What does a hypnotherapy session involve?
So… What does an hypnotherapy session look like exactly? The first step is to clearly identify what the problem for which you are seeking help is. It may be something from the table below, or maybe something different. I will be asking questions that will help you identify the problem.
Once we have clearly established what the issue is, together we will define your goal, and formulate a simple sentence that describes it (in hypnotherapy terms such sentence is called “suggestion”). At this stage, the actual hypnotherapy part starts: you will be asked to make sure that you are sitting comfortably, and then you will be invited to close your eyes.
Through a series of some simple instructions, I will lead you into a state of deep relaxation. It is at this point, that I will drop in the suggestion you formulated; such suggestion will start working on your subconscious mind and, from there, it will help you achieve your goal.
Slowly and gently, I will re-emerge you from the hypnotic state and bring you back to the room.
