Exercise Physiology
What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist?
Accredited Exercise Physiologists are recognised allied health professionals, specialising in the delivery of exercise, lifestyle and behavioural modification programs for the prevention and management of chronic diseases and injuries. They provide physical activity and behaviour change support for clients with conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, depression, cancer, arthritis, musculoskeletal pain and more. Exercise Physiologists are eligible to provide treatment through Medicare, the Department of Veteran Affairs, Work Cover and Third Party insurance.
How can an Exercise Physiologist help me?
Some chronic diseases can be prevented, controlled or even reversed with simple changes to lifestyle. Small changes in physical activity, for example, can enhance the quality of life of many people living with these conditions. Exercise Physiologists can provide guidance about what type of physical activity and how much is beneficial.
An Exercise Physiologist can help you by:
- Providing evidence-based information about how physical activity can help your condition.
- Designing a suitable and safe exercise program that is comfortable and works to improve your condition.
- Provide encouragement and support to enhance motivation and adherence to exercise.
