SPECIALTIES
Offering Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Moxibustion for...
Fertility issues in women and men
For Women (Pre conception and Gynaecological Problems)
Fertility treatments should begin 3 months before conception, usually one treatment each week is recommended for women over the age of 35 or for women with the following problems:
Irregular Cycles, Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome, Heavy Periods, Painful Periods, Absent Periods, PMS, Endometriosis, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, Menopausal Symptoms.
Ovulation Tracking - this can be organised via a referral system from your GP to a local Fertility Specialist. Please feel free to discuss this during your consultations as I frequently liaise with local Fertility Specialists.
For Men (Pre conception)
Fertility treatments should begin 3 months prior to intended conception date (this includes Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine), usually one treatment each week is recommended for the first month then monthly depending on the underlying disorder. Treatments are recommended for men with the following problems:
Low Sperm counts, Poor Motility, Poor Sperm Morphology, Increased DNA Fragmentation, and Low Libido.
IVF support - Increasing your chances for a successful pregnancy
Pre IVF treatments (IVF, ICSI, IUI) - frequency of treatments will be tailored to your individual requirements, depending on type of IVF cycle and any history of previous failed IVF cycles.
Supportive treatments during the IVF process - weekly treatments during the IVF cycle, plus treatments at pre/post collection and pre/post transfer. Chinese Herbal Medline maybe recommended prior and during the IVF process depending on your age and IVF history.
Embryo transfer treatments - I recommend two treatments one pre and one post transfer, studies indicate that this increases your chances of a successful pregnancy.
Post transfer care - I recommend weekly treatments up to and including the 12th week, followed by monthly visits until 36 weeks.
Pregnancy Care and support
During pregnancy acupuncture can assist with - morning sickness, lethargy, insomnia, musculoskeletal conditions - back pain, sciatica, anxiety, haemorrhoids, constipation.
Breech - optimal treatment time is at 34-35 weeks, one treatment is required followed by a daily home treatment plan for ten days. Success rate of turning a Breech baby with acupuncture is around 75%. I can also assist with posterior presentations.
Pre-birth Acupuncture and Labour Induction - once weekly treatments are recommended starting 4 weeks prior to due date. These treatments facilitate a more efficient labour by softening the cervix and assist with baby positioning prior to labour. However if you are overdue I can provide induction treatments to induce labour.
Musculoskeletal Disorders and Sports Injuries
Acupuncture is a safe, effective and a natural way to eliminate pain, without the side effects caused by other methods of pain management. Treatment plans will vary according to the nature of your disorder/injury; studies indicate that acupuncture is effective for arthritis, lower back pain, sciatica, shoulder/neck pain, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, sprained ankles, plantar fasciitis and localised trauma.
Emotional Disorders
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine can assist with the following problems stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression. Frequency of treatments will be tailored to your individual needs.
Digestive/Gastrointestinal Problems
Acupuncture can assist in treating bloating, poor digestion, IBS, indigestion, reflux and constipation. Depending on the severity of your disorder I may prescribe Chinese Herbal Medicine to compliment treatments, these are taken once or twice daily in pill, capsule or granules.
