About

Hi I’m Krystle, I am a Naturopath, Nutritionist, and Yoga Therapist.

I’m obsessed with all things health and well-being.

Now apart from the human body and health science, I also love people and have always gained a real sense of satisfaction and fulfilment from being able to support and guide others like you.

When I tell people I’m a Naturopath they generally assume that I’ve been really healthy my whole life…which isn’t the case at all.

I completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy through the University of New England and the Australasian College of Natural Therapies (ACNT); a Diploma of Nutrition and Advanced Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine (ACNT) and later on a Diploma of Yoga Therapy through Yoga Therapy Australia.

A component of what I do is coach my clients, I am here to support, guide, investigate and provide you with all the information and confidence that you need to restore your health and vitality and most importantly help you to live happy, and live well. Ultimately you have to participate in your health and healing also.

Western Herbal Medicine

As a Naturopath it's important for me to consider both the traditional uses of a plant as medicine as well as regularly reviewing the scientific research supporting the use of these medicines clinically.

The beautiful thing about plant medicine is it can gently support you and your body without having an extensive list of side effects. Great for pregnancy, breastfeeding mums and bubs.

When taking herbal medicines including over the counter medicines you might buy from the health food store you should absolutely advise your Dr or Naturopath as there are known herb drug interactions that can occur.

Herbal medicine is extremely useful during pregnancy and for children. I personally use herbs often to support me during times when I’m struggling with stress or sleep.

I couldn’t imagine my clinical practice without them.

Nutrition

Food has the power to heal

When your diet is imbalanced you can end up in all sorts of trouble including deficiencies, weight problems, lack of energy, hormonal imbalances, digestive problems and the list goes on and on.

Food education is a huge component of what I do during our sessions. Understanding the major food groups and what your personal requirements are is important in maintaining health.

Change is difficult...having someone to coach you is essential to staying the course!

Also learning how to best set up your family and children for healthy eating is paramount and a huge passion of mine as a practitioner.

Eating habits are closely linked to emotions, culture, lifestyle and deeply engrained habits. So getting an outside perspective and some practical support and help is key to making change happen.

Eating for good health is the best form of preventative medicine and education and information is key to empowering you to make the best choices possible.

Yoga Therapy

Healthy Body, Mind and Soul

You've struggled with ongoing consistent health symptoms, you go on holidays and literally some or all of the symptoms subside or improve? You start sleeping better, feeling more energised, and you feel like life's a little more manageable?  The main thing that changes when you're on holidays is your state of mind, and you're state of mind also impacts your body chemistry.

What is yoga therapy? How can it benefit you?

Yoga therapy uses some of the tools that are commonly practised in traditional yoga, simple physical postures, breathing practises, and visualisations to help bring about a greater sense of health and wellbeing.

These tools are completely tailored to the individual and sessions are run one-to-one because no two bodies and minds are the same.

Yoga therapy is great if you're struggling with any chronic pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, preparation for pregnancy and labour, periods of high stress, exams, major life events, thyroid conditions, weight management issues... The list goes on.

Chances are life isn't going to slow down any time soon, but we can learn tools that help us manage the challenges we're are faced with.

Naturopathy

What is Naturopathy?

This is a question I get asked a fair bit.

Naturopathy is an umbrella term for several modalities, but essentially is a form of complementary medicine that can work extremely well to help guide you towards a happier healthier way of living.

There are 6 major principles by which Naturopaths ascribe to practice:

  • The healing power of nature

  • First do no harm

  • Find and treat the cause (where possible), not just the symptoms

  • Treat the whole person

  • Education

  • Prevention

Some of the modalities that might be commonly used by a Naturopath to support you are:

  • Western herbal medicine

  • Nutrition and diet therapy

  • Homeopathy

  • Exercise/ massage therapy

The above list is by no means exhaustive with many practitioners having their own personal approach to practice and often integrating several other modalities.

While it’s not appropriate for all of my clients, I have experience using yoga therapy and breathing techniques in order to support with stress management and stress related health concerns.
