My approach to Massage is Therapeutic and Intuitive
The range of massage styles I draw on reflect my goal of serving as a catalyst for the innate healing systems in your body, mind and spirit, while integrating the health benefits of classic massage therapy. My approach may alter from treatment to treatment and each session will have a focus on employing the right balance of healing techniques for that given day.
I will always work in the spirit of collaboration and will alter the pressure and work within your pain threshold.
Remedial Massage
A deep-tissue massage technique that aims to release tension in the muscles and enhance flexibility, mobility, flexion and extension. You may need to undertake a program of massage to reach your goals, depending on how chronic or recent your injury is.
Deep-tissue Massage
This is a slow massage technique using more forceful strokes to access deep levels of muscle and connective tissue. This style of massage is most commonly used to manage muscle damage following injury. I also integrate Myofascial Release and these massages usually need a longer booking for the greatest health benefits to be achieved.
Stretching
I employ this technique to lengthen tight muscles and enhance mobility and range of motion. I use a muscle balance under the term 'hyperton-X' which is not painful and allows me to achieve some extension, which may ease tender soft tissue conditions to the point of being able to massage it.
Trigger Point Therapy
This technique releases and deactivates muscular knots that are causing either local pain or referred pain, including headaches. I may also incorporate some Kinesiology ESR to effectively reduce pain sensations.
Myofascial Release
This treatment uses slow, deep and rhythmic strokes and the therapist gains subtle results via sustained and gentle pressure to release restrictions in the fascia that sheaths the body’s muscles and organs. The health benefits of myofascial release include:
- relief of chronic pain
- improved respiratory function
- lymphatic drainage of toxins away from cells
- reduced tension
- improved blood circulation to muscles.
Sports Injury and Illness Recovery Massage
Shock can impact both the physical and emotional self, causing parts of the body to experience more pain or stiffness in reaction. I will examine and assess this, then adapt my approach to your treatment, working on and with you to improve your sense of well-being and self worth. Examples of the kinds of situations that a Massage may be beneficial for include:
- Chronic health conditions
- Cancer treatment
- A physical accident
- Automotive accident
- Fibromyalgia
- Mental illness
The benefits of Massage include:
- Reduced pain and strain
- Increased mobility
- Relaxation
Mini Massage Treatment
Mini Massage is available for busy people and groups – a pre-Wedding massage when there are 6 people wanting 20 - 30 minute treatments on a specific area of the body – a back, neck, shoulder or hand massage for example. There is no need to remove clothing and I am able to offer the treatment without massage oil if preferred.
