INTEGRATED SELF EMPOWERMENT THERAPY
ISET – Integrated Self Empowerment Therapy uses the language of the mind – metaphors and images – to create change in limiting belief systems and learned behaviour patterns that create illness, emotional disturbances, spiritual disharmony and life fulfillment frustrations.
The use of metaphors is used to represent the belief system, so you can not only see and therefore better understand in what way the belief is dis-empowering you, but you can also use the same metaphor to change the negative belief system permanently.
So the focus of ISET is to uncover and change the belief systems behind the behaviour, feelings and thoughts that are causing tensions in any area of life. This is based on the philosophy that with any disruptive condition or situation, the emotions, thoughts and behaviour are just indicators of the underlying unconscious beliefs about the self.
ISET
• Utilises the skills of semantics and suggestion in an altered state of consciousness of hypnotherapy;
• Accepts the importance of experiential conditioning, culture and spiritual influences of transpersonal psychology;
• Understands the identification and recognition of behaviour’s connection to belief of cognitive behaviour therapy;
• Applies the meaning-making ideas of constructivism; Draws on the effectiveness of disassociation proposed by Jungian dream metaphors, gestalt dialogue and psychodrama role playing; Capitalises on the dynamics of the visual influence and energy of colour.
ISET SESSION
A typical ISET session initially involves exploring, through coaching, the underlying belief system that is operating in a negative way in the client’s life. This could be behavioural problems, emotional trauma, fears and phobias or physical disease. The uncovered belief system then forms the contract for the session.
We are not always aware of what beliefs we are holding at an unconscious level, however all behaviour, thoughts and feelings have their origins in a belief or truth. We do not live in a vacuum so therefore have to view our world from a perspective. That is influenced by our self truths and beliefs.
BELIEF SYSTEMS CAN BE:
Fear based such as:
• Failure
• Success
• Vulnerability
• Betrayal
• Abandonment
• Insufficiency
Truth based such as:
• I am not good enough
• I am to blame
• I have no control in my life
• I am unlovable
• I am unforgivable
• I am unworthy to receive
Curse based such as:
• I will never find happiness/peace/fulfilment
• I will never succeed
• Things will always go wrong
• I will never have enough
• It is always my fault
• No one can protect me
• I will be punished
EXAMPLES ARE:
If your unconscious belief is that you are either vulnerable or unworthy or guilty, then your emotional response will usually be either fear, resentment or anger.
Depending on the belief system:
- if fear has been generated then a desire to run away will be paramount
- if resentment is felt then a desire to justify and defend one’s honour will eventuate
- if anger rises up then verbal or physical aggression will usually be the outcome
You will repeat these responses every time your belief is triggered or challenged until you change the belief.
Changing your belief and the stored emotions will create a different perception so that you view the world through different lenses thereby creating a new YOU.
ISET's ‘big picture’ philosophy allows its principles to be adopted for any situation where a change in personal belief is required for health and well being. It is precisely because it works at the unconscious level that the Integrated Self Empowerment Therapy (ISET) approach can be applied regardless of whether the disharmony and disease is of a physical, behavioural, emotional or spiritual nature.
