About Me

I’m passionate about the idea of mums having the information they need to make decisions for themselves and, therefore, being in control of their birthing experience.

I hope to help women understand the very natural process of labour and have a chance to talk through their concerns and hopes for their labour experience before they get there. I will also provide time to debrief their labour afterwards with in-home visits to support them and their new baby.

I have a Bachelor of Music and an Associate of Music in piano and have run my own business for twenty years teaching music, accompanying performers, conducting children’s choirs and performing myself. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing degree and this, as well as working as a doula, is my real passion!

I am lucky to have been married to a wonderful man for 22 years and to have 6 children-3 sons aged 21, 18 and 17 and 3 daughters aged 20 and 15 year old twins! I understand the joys and the hardships of motherhood but consider myself very blessed to experience it!

What are the health benefits of choosing a Doula?

  • the use of oxytocin by 40%

  • requests for an epidural by 60%

  • decreases the use of analgesics by 30%

  • reduces forceps delivery by 40%

  • improves breastfeeding

  • decreases incidence of postpartum depression

  • greater mother-infant interaction

  • allows the father to be more emotionally supportive

  • decreases negative feelings about childbirth
