About Us

Although she was always quite active growing up, Mel never had the confidence to be the best she could be. At the age of 21 she found a passion for running. By never being much of a runner before who struggled to run 5km, Mel trained herself to complete a 10km fun run and then went on to complete her first half marathon in the same year. Mel now enjoys reaching new goals in long distance running. Finding a passion in running has given Mel direction, confidence, motivation and goals in life.

“The feeling of completing something you never imagined you could do is amazing”

Mel has been working in the public health sector for three years and understands too well the prevalence of chronic disease, especially type 2 diabetes and its affect on our health, quality of life and the health care system. She also knows that there is evidence that type 2 Diabetes and many other chronic diseases can be prevented through good nutrition and physical activity. Preventing any chance of a poor quality of life.

"It is a lot easier to maintain good health and fitness instead of trying to reverse bad habits but reversing bad habits makes life easier than living with poor health"

Mel’s passion in health and fitness has empowered her to help others recognise their potential to reach any dream they have and to make sure they live a healthy and strong life.

"Personal training consistently ensures better improvements in strength & body shape during exercise training"
Research Source: The American College of Sports Medicine

What are the benefits of personal training?
  • You get maximum results in minimum time
  • You are continuously motivated

  • You have your own accountability coach
  • You get results faster
  • You receive variety in your training without having to think

Strength Training

Top Ten Reasons to Strength Train

1. You Will Be Physically Stronger - Increasing your strength will make you far less dependent
upon others for assistance in daily living.

2. You Will Lose Body Fat - Studies performed found that the average woman who strength trains twice a week for two months will gain nearly one kg of muscle and will lose 2kg of fat. As your lean muscle increases so does your
metabolism.

3. Women… You Will Gain Strength Without Bulking up - Researchers also found that unlike men, women typically don't gain size from strength training, because they have 30 times less of the hormones that cause muscle
hypertrophy.

4. You Decrease Your Risk
Of Osteoporosis - Research has found that weight training increases spinal bone mineral density.
One’s best defense against osteoporosis.

5. You Will Improve Your
Athletic Performance - Over and over research concludes that strength training improves athletic ability. Golfers can significantly increase their driving power. Cyclists are able to continue for longer periods of time with less fatigue. This training has been shown to improve overall performance.

6. You Will Reduce Your Risk Of Injury, Back Pain and Arthritis - Strength training not only builds stronger muscles, but also builds stronger connective tissues and increases joint stability. Strengthening the low-back eliminates low-back pain.

7. You Will Reduce Your Risk of
Heart Disease - Weight training can improve cardiovascular health in several ways, including lowering LDL ("bad")
cholesterol, increasing HDL ("good") cholesterol and lowering blood pressure.

8. You Will Reduce Your Risk of Diabetes - Weight training may improve the way the body processes sugar, which may reduce the risk of diabetes. Adult-onset diabetes is a growing problem for women and men.

9. It Is Never Too Late To Benefit - Women in their 70s and 80s have built up significant strength through weight
training.

10. You Will Improve Your Attitude And Fight Depression - In a Harvard study 8 weeks of training reduced depression symptoms more successfully than standard counseling.
