From scientist to massage therapist

What may surprise you is I began my career as a Food Scientist and Environmental Consultant 20 years ago. So what changed? I was stuck in a desk job and was yearning for a more hands-on career where I could work with clients one-on-one in a practical way and make a direct impact on their health.

Massage seemed the obvious choice 

Although this looks like a 360 degree change, I had been pursuing my interest in massage as a hobby. I’d always loved receiving massages and knew the wonderful benefits  that a skilled massage therapist could provide. One day I thought to myself, why not learn how to do this myself? So as part of my personal development, I took up a short course to learn the basics of massage.

Soon my services were in demand!

Volunteers to receive my massages were plentiful and soon I had good feedback from friends and family. This got me thinking about the possibility of making a living doing what I love, and I’ve not looked back since!

The next step was to become a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist and after 18 months  of training I received my Diploma. Now I work full time with clients offering seated, remedial and relaxation massage in my business.

What I believe now and always

I believe in the power of informed touch and the amazing ability of the human body to respond to natural therapies. Massage therapy has been used for millennia in different cultures around the world. It has stood the test of time and shown its effectiveness in helping with stress, anxiety, pain and immune function.

I’m privileged to be able to help my clients feel better, move more freely and enjoy improved health in a natural way. After a massage, I see my clients gain a renewed confidence in their body, it’s as if a new connection has been formed and this empowers them to take control of their health and wellbeing.
