Welcome to P V H Personal Training
Hi & Welcome to PVH Certified Health & Fitness Consultants. PVH was created back in 2006 to fill a void with the health & fitness industry that wasn’t been fulfilled.
Many of us could either find ourselves in a gym where there was little, or no professional care being provided. Or conversely to this at the other end of the spectrum receiving great advice and guidance but a hefty price tag associated with a specialty type service.
PVH has been designed to fill that very gap! What PVH is constantly striving to achieve is a standard in expertise and service that everyone can access.
There is after all a reason why professional sporting identities can continually improve their performances across the board! It isn’t because they are super human beings, or that they may have access to better facilities. But just maybe because they have better training modalities in place; greater confidence in what they are trying to achieve, and the burning desire to always better their best!
The Truth!
In medicine, prescription before diagnosis is malpractice. A doctor wouldn’t prescribe medication without first examining you, would they? A thorough examination is standard practice and may include discussion of symptoms, investigation of client history, physical assessment, x-rays/scans and, if warranted, referral to a more suitably qualified specialist.
Why should it be any different in fitness?
As a fitness professional for many years now, exercise is my ‘medication’ that I prescribe! Resistance training, muscular activation drills, joint mobilisation/stabilisation exercises, cardiovascular conditioning protocols, stretching and soft tissue release modalities are our forms of ‘treatment’, each eliciting a unique effect.
The Services We Provide
Rehabilitation vs Prehabilitation (Corrective Exercise)
Rehabilitation is, by definition, treatment of an injured site in an attempt to alleviate pain and restore function. In other words, you must be injured before you can benefit from it.
In contrast, ‘Corrective Exercise’ describes proactive injury management strategies designed to counter the impact an individual’s occupational, recreational and/or lifestyle behaviors have on postural alignment and joint function.
With up to 90% of the population suffering from lower back pain at some point in their lives (not to mention neck, shoulder and knee pain!), Corrective Exercise is critical; you are not going too lose fat, gaining muscle or get any fitter if you are injured!
Lower Back Management
Statistics show all of us that at some point in our lives, over 90% of the population is going to suffer from some sought of lower back related problem.
One problem that I see stemming from a statistic like this is a general complacency towards back pain itself, I’ll explain further. Among many suffers there more often than not is an attitude of, because we all get back pain then it must be normal to experience back pain… Shouldn’t it?
The training modality’s we prescribe too say No! Pain is a something we all move away from, not toward. Human instincts force us to seek pleasure from all of life’s situations. So why do so many of us accept pain regardless of where it is occurring as just a part of life.
With the sought of exercise prescription that is being applied at PVH Certified Health & Fitness, most if not all of your clients have experienced significant reductions in pain and discomfort. This is primarily achieved by strengthening the weaker / nonresponsive areas of the body were pain occurs.
Through this process individuals are educated on how to better manage their situation, and remain pain free for the foreseeable future.
