Positive Energy Pilates is a recognised fitness studio in Newcastle NSW that specialises in Pilates and yoga exercises. Our routine centres around the workout system developed by Joseph Pilates.

Meet Our Pilates Teachers
Andrea Sara
Andrea is the founder of Positive Energy Pilates and its head trainer. As a child, she took up ballet classes and appreciated the strong and controlled movements that came with it.
However, certain circumstances forced her to stop during her adolescent years. So she looked for ways to fill the void. Andrea wanted something that would challenge her physically and artistically as ballet did.
After giving birth to her third child, she suffered from misalignments in her body and the effects of previous injuries which were not addressed immediately.
A friend recommended Pilates, and Andrea knew the instant she tried it that it was the perfect exercise for her. She liked how it required a lot of concentration, coordination, strength and control. Andrea went on to take formal teaching classes and loved how Pilates gradually improved her strength, posture, and ability to deal with her injuries.
Along the way, she reconnected with her first love through an adult ballet class. She says combining ballet with Pilates nourishes her mental and physical wellbeing. Nowadays, she uses Pilates to help other people improve their health or their performance in a specific sport.
Haylee Binks
Haylee was drawn to Pilates because of its ability to challenge her body without the rigor of most sports. She enrolled in a local Pilates gym back in 2013 to learn more about the system. But, it was meeting Andrea at Positive Energy and training to become an instructor that made a big difference in her life.
She's currently working on her degrees in Nursing and Psychology at the University of Newcastle, wherein she developed a holistic view on health. Haylee says Pilates taught her how to be more mindful of her body, relieved her chronic back pain due to scoliosis, and improved her flexibility.
As a qualified Pilates mat instructor, her goal is to let others experience what she has from this unique exercise system.
Julie Kohl
Julie has been a professional dancer and choreographer for more than 14 years, with specialisation in ballet, jazz and contemporary dance.
After her trip to Europe, where she performed fire dancing, she returned to Australia and trained as a Pilates instructor. As a dancer, Julie says she had her share of injuries and it was only through Pilates that she was able to manage these.
Julie uses Pilates to help others restore their mobility and prevent symptoms of pain. Aside from teaching, she also spends her time on dancing, yoga and meditation. She's currently taking a Bachelor of Psychology and looking to incorporate the things she's learnt into a holistic healing approach.
