Dry Needling
Focus areas
Dry needling is a safe and effective treatment method for many soft tissue pathologies. Our qualified Therapists use sterilised individually packed acupuncture needles. These needles are inserted directly into the muscle or trigger point in the muscle which releases it and allows the muscle to relax.
Trigger points are taut bands within the muscle fibres, also commonly known as 'muscle knots'. This 'knot' inhibits blood flow and causes an accumulation of toxins, waste products and chemicals. This build up can irritate the muscle and cause pain at the site of the trigger point and also refer pain to other areas of the body, known as 'referral patterns'.
Dry needling provides a specific and localised treatment to the tissue. This results in increased blood flow to the affected area and facilitates healing.
