NATUROPATHY

What Is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy maintains that the body can heal itself if given the right circumstances and conditions. It uses a range of treatments to stimulate the body’s own healing powers (‘vital force’). Treatments include taking a comprehensive health history, looking at bodily functions as a complete picture, assessing nutrition, dietetics, utilising herbal medicine, homoeopathy, iridology, tongue and nail assessment, live blood analysis and tactile therapies like massage if required.

Why Is Naturopathy Important?

The foundations of naturopathy – such as the importance of diet, chemical free living, clean fresh water, sunlight, exercise and stress management – have been adopted by conventional medicine.Having a strong focus on the prevention of health problems and the early detection of a person’s likelihood of developing a health disorder (predisposition), naturopathy is also very effective at treating acute and chronic health issues.

Naturopathy aims to:
  • Minimise acute and chronic symptoms
  • Support the body’s vital force (capacity to self-heal)
  • Re-balance the system so that illness is less likely to occur in the future
  • Educate the patient to look after their own health and the health of their family

  • Fatigue & Sleep disturbance
  • Digestive complaints including Irritable Bowel
  • Mood disorders, Depression and Stress Management

Modern Naturopathic Nutrition

The modern western diet, poor lifestyle habits, exposure to environmental pollution and the excessive use of antibiotics has led to an increase in long-term health problems such as diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, cancer, cholesterol and hypertension which, while still being curable using natural methods, need more complex nutritional approaches.

Modern naturopathic nutritionists are trained in the detailed workings of the body and its metabolism. This enables them not only to explain to individuals how their illness may have started but also to design a tailor-made nutrition and health program, explain how it works, and guide the client through it, adapting it as necessary to individual needs and working through any problems that may arise.

Naturopathic Nutrition is Based on Good Science

A large volume of research which goes back for many decades consistently demonstrates that methods based on naturopathic nutrition can be very successful in reversing chronic (long-term) health conditions.

In addition to diet and supplements, naturopathic nutritionists also may use safe herbal products and are trained to guide individuals through procedures designed to find out whether any specific staple foods are aggravating their condition.

Naturopathic nutritionists are also trained in the use of standard and specialized lab tests which can help them to tailor a nutritional supplement program. Many people have gained short and long-term relief from symptoms, valuable advice and support in creating optimal wellbeing by following the advice of a naturopathic nutritionist.
