Hello and Welcome. My name is Bernadette and I am a Counsellor, Life Coach, NLP Consultant and I am an experienced workshop/group facilitator who has been involved in personal development for over 13 years.
I see each person as a unique individual who has their own story to tell, and my role is to listen and support each person to create the new life that they want and deserve. I will listen to you without judgment or criticism, find the hidden beliefs and values that you live your life by, and support you in finding the answers you seek and unlocking your new life patterns.
I specialise in assisting people to adjust to changes in their relationships by strengthening their skills in communication, bringing insight and awareness to their behaviours, thoughts and feelings so that they can create healthy and loving relationships with those they love. These skills can also be applied to their work environment to their effectiveness, improve performance and increase opportunities in the workplace and build stronger working relationships with colleagues.
What happens in a consultation?
A consultation is an hour long, and in a relaxed and comfortable setting I will discuss with you the situation or challenge that you want to change. I understand that every person is unique and has a unique outlook to life, so every consultation is tailored to your individual needs. There are no long personality tests or questionnaires to be filled out because I will not put you into a box and make assumptions about you.
My focus is on your success and you will learn new skills and resources within your session. Importantly you will learn how to apply your new skills, resources and leanings to any situation or challenge that comes into your life.
Grief
Grief is a natural response to loss and is a highly individualised experience with reactions varying widely. Grief is most commonly associated with the death of a loved one, however it can also relate to a loss of a job, relationship, diagnosis of a disability or diagnosis of mental health issue, divorce, loss of home from natural disasters, loss of a beloved pet, relocation, being a victim of crime.
Many losses are deeply private and often stigmatised in nature by society, which may leave individuals; couples and families without support and survivors can be left with feelings of shame, guilt, and alienation from loved ones, their community and society.
Grief and loss counselling is helpful for those who have not had the support around them due to supporting others, as well as for those who are transitioning and are wanting to create change within their life.
Relationships
Relationships come in many forms such as parental, couples, siblings, children as well as work colleagues. Most importantly how we relate to ourselves has a major impact on how we move and communicate within other relationships in our lives. Unhelpful communication patterns can cause disharmony within our relationships and if they are left unattended they can become entrenched and harmful to how we feel about ourselves, which then impacts on those around us.
Relationships face difficulties at some time and depending on our level of communications skills disagreements may seem overwhelming. They may seem like they are unsolvable and can end up in angry outbursts, avoidance or may escalate to physical or verbal violence. External factors that have an impact on relationships such as family pressures, raising children, fly in/fly out situations, financial, unresolved conflict, sexual difficulties and complacency within your intimate relationships.
I am experienced in working with individuals and couples and support them to find hidden expectations, common goals, improve communication skills as well as self-awareness to bring about the changes that you want and deserve.
What is NLP?
John Grinder and Richard Bandler developed NLP (Neuro-Linguisitc Programming) in the 1970’s. It combines the best, most effective components of psychology, physiology, psychiatry and hypnotic patterns in a unique and highly effective way.
NLP explores the relationship on how we think (Neuro), communicate verbally and with gestures (linguistic and emotionally) and the patterns of behaviours and beliefs that we live our lives by (programs). Once you are aware of how you know what you know, you are able to create or enhance the changes that you require.
How can NLP help you? – Fears, phobias and low self esteem are behaviours that can hold you back from achieving your outcomes and can inhibit your communication with others. By utilising the creative power of your unconscious mind (inner voice, intuition) and NLP, you will learn to model behaviours and patterns of excellence to create change in your personal and professional life.
When working with the unconscious mind NLP enables you to accelerate change and create the tools and resources to achieve the outcomes that you want, giving you flexibility to have the life that you want and deserve.
