About Me - Caroline Heckendorf
I’m a qualified Remedial massage therapist, Aromatherapist and Sport’s massage therapist and hold a Diploma in Nutrition and Bachelor of Health Science degree in Complementary Medicine. I’m also mummy to my 3 year old daughter, Sophia.
After qualifying as a massage therapist I began working as a remedial massage therapist within a chiropractic clinic and as a sports massage therapist for Rugby Union and Rugby League teams. After sustaining an overuse injury I had to give up massage and spent time working in the corporate world until having my daughter.
Sophia had reflux and colic and at about 6 weeks old, after many unsettled days and nights, I decided to take Sophia to baby massage classes. Not only did I learn some valuable massage techniques to relieve Sophia’s discomfort, but I was also taken back at how the class instilled me with confidence as a first time mummy - the social side of the classes was invaluable too. From then on I was inspired to study myself to become an Infant Massage Instructor and am thrilled that I am able to use my background as a massage therapist and experience as a mummy too.
As a Certified Infant Massage Instructor with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM), I am able to deliver ‘The First Touch Program’ which is the only nationally accredited infant massage curriculum in Australia. All IAIM Instructors follow a strict code of conduct which can be read here.
