Curious Minds

When my son was 3 everyone kept trying to tell me that something was "wrong" with him. He didn't talk and he liked to be in his own world...many thought that was weird but I knew he was just being him...unique. For hours he would spend time organizing everything; his cars, his toys, his view of life. I knew nothing was wrong with my son but thus my journey of helping my own child to navigate his world and the worlds of other people's children had begun. My son didn't fit the paradigm...he was making his own and that created resistance in those around us. Go figure...an entrepreneurial mind at 3?! Luckily I recognized what was happening and instead of stifling him, I spent years educating myself on how to help him and eventually how to help others. I was and am his biggest supporter. That was in 1997 and continues into 2016 and will continue far beyond that. Seems ages ago and maybe it is but my son is now 21 and I am so proud of the man that he is but it wasn't easy to get to this point.

Because of my questions I opened up a Child Care Business and very soon realized that I had been called to not just offer Child Care which is a huge in itself but to also relate to and learn how to help children and families in similar situations...starting at birth and going to year 12.
Everyone thought my son had Autism and they were quick to try to diagnose him but that wasn't the case at all. He needed my time, attention & expertise to grow into the successful, confident young man that he is today. <

I have spent the last 21 years learning about children who are unique, different and don't easily fit into whom others think they should be. I can also relate because I am quite a unique individual. My son has and had the right to honour his gifts, his life path and his highest self no matter what I thought or what others thought. That takes a lot of effort and support but I became a cheerleader for him and hundreds of other famalies and continue to do so today.

I've helped children with mild Asperger's, screaming issues, hitting, ADD, defying authority, children needing more support, guiding them emotionally/mentally, depression, overactive imaginations, etc. Just ask!

This inspired my newest venture: Curious Minds.
