LomiLomi massage originates in Hawaii where for many centuries the kapuna (elders) used it to relieve stress and physical ailments, as well as clearing emotional blocks.
Although two Lomi Lomi massages are never identical, each session is performed in a fluid, rhythmic manner using the forearms, elbows and the hands to apply broad strokes, sometimes to different parts of the body simultaneously, using massage oils.
Huna philosophy says energy gets trapped in the joints, so broad stokes, gentle stretches and joint rotations are applied to release this trapped energy.
The 7 Principals of Huna Philosophy
ike ~ the world is what you think it is ~ be aware
kala ~ there are no limits ~ be free
mana ~ all power comes from within ~ be confident

manawa ~ now is the moment of power ~ be here
makia ~ energy flows where attention goes ~ be focused
pono ~ effectiveness is the measure of truth ~ be positive
