Ruth Pingiaro
Certified Reiki Practitioner

Ruth has been an animal lover all her life, growing up and surrounding herself with pets, strays and wildlife.

Ruth is a Registered Nurse holding a Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric Nursing. For 20 years, she has worked in the highly specialised, skilled area of Forensic Psychiatry and has been able to transfer her expertise in assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to her Animal Therapy work.

Ruth has attended, run and participated in numerous courses in holistic treatments to complement her medical work.

In 2007, she was lucky enough to fulfil her dream of living and working with primates, with rescue Orangutans in Sabah, Borneo. From quarantine and surgery assist, to rehabilitation and release, she worked with traumatised, emotionally unsound and physically compromised Orangutans. She used Reiki as well as her medical skills to assist these amazing sentient beings.

It is her life dream to work with, and help, animals in any way she can. Ruth volunteers at a local animal shelter and horse rescue centres, offering Reiki, as she feels these animals are in most need of this healing technique. She has seen first-hand, time and time again, the remarkable results that Reiki provides physically and emotionally, on all kinds of animals, and would love to help you and your pets any way she can.

WHAT IS REKI

Reiki is a gentle and natural therapy, ideal for use with animals as its therapeutic effects are used to assist in healing physical and emotional conditions. Reiki works by bringing about a deep relaxation response which allows the body the ability to repair itself from illness, injuries, emotional issues and post-surgery.

A Reiki treatment can do no harm and research shows that touch facilitates the relaxation response and enhances the healing process. It safely complements all holistic and western healing modalities.

WAYS ANIMAL REIKI CAN BE USED

For healthy animals it maintains health and relaxation while providing a sense of peace, contentment and general well-being

For sick animals, Reiki is a wonderful method as well as a safe complement to other forms of healing or veterinary care.

For animals who are dying, transitioning home to spirit, Reiki can provide comfort, relief from pain, fear and anxiety and ease transition to afterlife. It can also help the human family with this process.

REIKI CAN BE USED EFFECTIVELY WITH ISSUES SUCH AS

  • Physical illness/injuries

  • Recuperation post-surgery

  • Acute or chronic pain and inflammation

  • Side effects of chemotherapy

  • Emotional problems

  • Anxiety/fear/trauma/abuse

  • Anti-social behaviour

  • To clean the body of toxins

  • Induce relaxation and decrease stress in highly strung or nervous animals

  • Increase well-being in healthy animals

  • Provide a peaceful transition between life and death

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE SESSION

I will give a brief description of Reiki prior to starting and then invite your pet to accept the Reiki energy and healing. It is their choice and they are in control of the session. They are free to wander the room and sit with you, or me, or a combination. Once your pet is feeling secure, it tends to lie down and relax, often going into a “Reiki nap”. The treatment will still be effective whether it is hands on, hands off, or both.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER A TREATMENT

Results can be seen 24 to 48 hours after a Reiki treatment. Some pets respond immediately. Others may show healing after only a couple of sessions. Some conditions may require regular ongoing Reiki treatments to facilitate and complete the healing process.

REIKI AND VET CARE

Reiki therapy is not intended to take the place of conventional medical treatment, nor do Reiki practitioners diagnose or prescribe any medical treatment. Instead it can be used alongside traditional therapies to provide optimal care for your pet.

All animals, regardless of age, can benefit from Reiki treatments. A Reiki treatment can do no harm and safely complements all holistic and western healing modalities. I look forward to working with you and your pet.
