The Importance of Clinical Supervision

You can maintain and improve your ability to deliver a thoughtful, informed, and ethically sound service to your clients by engaging in clinical supervision.

So you will be informed and guided in the best practices  for counselling and psychotherapy, you can undergo clinical supervision on a regular individual, group or peer setting.

You will discover that I am well-equipped and highly capable of assisting you in achieving your professional goals being a university-trained clinical supervisor.

If you are a practising mental health professional, clinical supervision is a critical component of your career development. There are three essential reasons why you should engage in clinical supervision:

  1. Normative: This relates to working within the boundaries or ethics and laws of our profession to ensure the quality and safety of your practice.
  2. Restorative: This relates to the support given to and the emotional well-being and fitness of your practice.
  3. Formative: This relates to your ongoing educational development and competence.

Clinical supervision is also important as a majority of professional counselling associations require their members to undergo a specific number of hours of supervision, per number of client hours, per year. Although, at this time, this is not a mandated practice.

If presently you are not receiving clinical supervision and are interested in learning more about how clinical supervision can strengthen and improve your practice, please request a booking so we can discuss your individual supervisory needs.

About Your Clinical Supervisor

I was trained as a clinical supervisor in Derby University, in the U.K, graduating with a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision at Masters Level 7. I am also a certified member of the Australian Counselling Association's College of Supervisors.
