Mindfulness Practice - Psychology
Focus areas
Keep knocking and the joy inside will eventually open a window and look out to see who’s there – Rumi
Individual Sessions
I combine my Psychology training with years of Buddhist Dharma Mindfulness study and practice, Yoga teaching and dance practice.
In my psychology work, I most often use evidence-based Acceptance and Commitment Training / Therapy (ACT) and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP)
These therapies are both part of the third wave Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, which have a research evidence base for effective treatment for a range of clinical conditions.
About ACT
The goal of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is to help people create rich, full and meaningful lives, while effectively handling the pain and stress that life inevitably brings. ACT increases psychological flexibility by:
- Providing the Psychological skills to deal with painful thoughts and feelings effectively so that they have less impact and influence (i.e. mindfulness skills).
- Clarifying what is truly important and meaningful (i.e. values), using that knowledge to guide, inspire and motivate change for the better.
- A key aspect of this therapy involves you learning Mindfulness and relationship skills in session.
For more information about any of the modalities I use or to book, call or visit the Mindfulness Practice website.
