What is Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis?
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, also known as HTMA testing, is a safe, scientific, non-invasive pathology test that evaluates hair for levels of nutritional and toxic minerals.
HTMA test results can reveal various results, including:
- Imbalances of nutritional elements such as Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc and Copper
- Levels of toxic minerals such as Lead, Cadmium and Arsenic
By doing this test, we take the guesswork out of determining which minerals may need to be supplemented and which toxic metals may be accumulating in body tissue. From the results, we can also figure out what type of detox program can be implemented to assist with clearing toxic metals, as well as what rebalancing ratios of nutritional minerals need to be brought back to the body to regain the perfect balance.
HTMA test is also helpful in finding out a person’s metabolic type, which is essential in creating an appropriate meal plan for them so they can start eating healthier. Take note that a slow metaboliser has different dietary requirements from a fast metaboliser.
HTMA testing is also useful for people with chronic conditions like chronic fatigue and chronic depression as there are underlying mineral imbalances that contribute to them. And a simple change in diet and proper supplementation can result in drastic improvements.
What to Expect
It is very important to make sure that the hair is not treated, nor coloured when undergoing an HTMA test. Hair sample will be taken and sent to Interclinical Labs for testing, with the results coming back after 2-3 weeks.
Ideally, followup tests should be done every 6 months to keep proper track of the progress in rebalancing nutritional minerals and detoxing toxic minerals.
