Emotions are at the core of many psychological and relational problems. When we recognise, embody and find healthy ways to express our emotional selves, we start to feel a sense of balance and wholeness.
Grief and Loss
Grief is a natural and unfolding process when we loose someone or something significant to us. This may occur when someone dies, becomes sick or changes in some fundamental way. We may also feel grief when something in our life changes or ends. This could be a relationship, a job, a dream we held dear or a part of our sense of identity.
Grief may include a variety of emotions such as sadness, melancholy, anger, frustration, numbness, hurt and hopelessness. We might even feel disillusioned by the world and question our sense of meaning and purpose in life. Getting support through this time may be important in allowing us to acknowledge, move through and live with our unique experience of grief.
"Painful feelings are telling us something important. They need to be allowed, listened to, connected to and cared about in the presence of another (and when alone). This in itself is soothing and makes us feel better."
