Eligibility

Upgrade of Membership
As a Massage Australia member you have the ability to upgrade your membership at anytime, providing you meet the eligibility criteria. Please refer to Levels of membership for this information.
Transferring from another Association
If you wish to transfer your membership from another Association you are welcome to do this. If you currently hold health fund registration, this will continue with your change in membership. Upon applying for Massage Australia membership you will need to notify us of your existing provider numbers. If you have any questions concerning a transfer of membership, please contact our office or email your inquiry.
Overseas Qualifications
Practitioners with overseas qualifications are not eligible to apply for Professional Plus membership, as they are not eligible as health fund providers (requires an Australian qualification only). In this case you can contact a Registered Training Organisation (RTO e.g. TAFE or private college), which provides training in the Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT50307) or the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT40312) and undertake Recognised Prior Learning (RPL), to transfer your qualification.
Practitioners with overseas qualifications may be eligible to apply for Professional membership. This will allow you eligibility to apply for Professional Indemnity & Public Liability insurance cover. If you have any questions concerning overseas qualifications please contact our office or email your inquiry.
