About the Sessions
Marlies takes great care to facilitate a relaxed and secure environment in which you can feel safe and trustworthy to discuss and process private topics. Part of the initial session is a comprehensive assessment which involves getting to know you, discussing your desired outcome and formulating goals and a treatment plan in collaboration with you. Marlies takes a holistic, broad approach when working with clients. Part of the treatment plan may consist of identifying small and manageable changes in your life that have the potential to increase wellness and to support the progress of matters you are dealing with. Marlies will encourage you to engage in a process of self-discovery to gain self-mastery skills and increased resilience to life's challenges.
Sessions will involve a mixture of strategies depending on the issues you are facing. Session times are 50 minutes for counselling sessions and up to 75 min for ISIS sessions. The initial interview may take longer.
Internet video consultations via skype, zoom or telegram are available as well. Experience has shown that this medium has a great potential for a quality interpersonal space to develop and that despite of the physical distance an atmosphere of emotional holding and support can be passed through the ether.
Courses and Workshops
Marlies also works with groups and runs courses and 1-day-workshops on a variety of subjects like stress management, relaxation, meditation or bereavement support. Courses will span for a block of 12 weeks each and participants are restricted to a maximum of 10. Care is given to craft a balance between information input, activities and participant contributions and to foster an atmosphere in which participants feel at ease. You may want to discuss with your GP whether he would feel that you could benefit attending and therefore would write you a referral. In this case you could claim a Medicare rebate towards the fees. Fees of workshops and courses vary and information about up coming events will be posted on this site.
Fees- Initial consultation - $ 200 (up to 75 min)
- Consecutive sessions - $ 190 (50 min) - concession $ 190
Fees are payable at the end of each session by cash, cheque or via internet banking. Concessions apply if you are not working, are a student or on a pension or may be negotiated in special cases.
