About Us
You may have the belief that your relationship is starting to go downhill. Your partner may or may not feel the same way. Visiting Mark Sykes will simply provide the professional space in which you both can discuss how to fix it. In this professional space you will talk differently than you do now. It is much calmer and more respectful. Imagine that!
Having a skilled unbiased third party there will help gain insight into your relationship issues and will create the changes your relationship needs. The reality is that at this point you probably need someone highly skilled to head off the downward spiral.
How I can help you?
I can help you…
What can you achieve?
If you achieve the three things below you are likely to experience that your relationship with your partner may move to the next stage of development. People often report that they find it difficult just to do these three things. Try and imagine what would be different if you had these three things:
Relationship Specialist
Relationship counselling is a difficult area. While your GP may offer depression and anxiety counselling, it is rare that GP’s will practice relationship counselling or brain surgery. For some things you need to see a specialist who is appropriately qualified. I am a registered psychologist with many years of experience working with couples. I have even trained other relationship counsellors.
Relationships are at the heart of everyone’s life and it is worth making an investment to move your relationship in the direction it currently can’t seem to go.
How I do start?
The first counselling session is critical. In this session both parties decide if they want to continue or not. A reluctant partner may give it only one attempt. If nothing meaningful happens in that time they simply do not come back. The first session for couples counselling is always 2 hours. A brief one hour session will only skim the surface of the problem. I emphasise this because many counsellors treat it like any other individual anxiety or depression session. It is a two person counselling session and it's always very complicated.
After the first 2 hour session each of the follow up session lasts for one hour. The sessions are typically weekly for the first 2-3 sessions and then spaced out every couple of months as the couples progress.
I realise couples have busy working schedules and so I also have very limited Saturday appointments. Limited evening sessions are also available. Delaying making an appointment is not going to fix the problem so call now on 0416 157751 to schedule your appointment.
Relationship Counselling
Do you remember the happy days when you first met? Do you remember how easy it was just to be in each others company? For some couples time seems to lead to a gradual breakdown of communication rather than growth. Relationship counselling is about developing the skills and insights into how your relationship can develop in ways that will assist you both. For some this may mean separation, for others it is about slowly redeveloping a connection to each other again.
