What is Hypnosis
Simply put hypnosis is a state of mind somewhere between sleep and unconsciousness. Some people have described hypnosis as being a very relaxed and comfortable experience, unlike anything they have previously felt. It requires a degree of learning which in itself can be an enjoyable experience.
Once learned and you are in a state of induced hypnosis, you are still in control of the proceedings and can stop the session at will if you become uncomfortable for any reason.
When a person is hypnotised, the conscious mind is somewhat subdued. It is not asleep, but merely less interested in what is happening nearby. This allows the unconscious to become a lot more active. When a hypnotherapist talks to a person who is hypnotised, the unconscious mind more readily accepts what it is told and governs the body accordingly.
In simple terms, hypnosis is merely a state of increased suggestibility. A state in which we are more likely to be able to accept the suggestions of a trained hypnotherapist than we are without hypnosis being utilised.
In fact, each of us experiences a brief hypnotic state daily - just before going to sleep at night and upon awakening in the morning. Also, television advertising attempts to capitalise on our suggestibility through the use of repetition and rhythm, which are two of the components used in the induction process for hypnosis. So, hypnosis is not really new to us at all. It is, in fact, a natural state and can be a very comfortable one.
Prior to being hypnotised, full details of your requirements will be assessed and a complete plan of your desired outcome will be formulated, which will ensure your goals for the sessions are clearly outlined.
We will go through a series of procedures to ensure you will clearly recognise specific evidence to indicate success in reaching your goals as the sessions continue.
