About Lotus Patch
Focus areas
Welcome to Lotus Patch
Lotus Patch was founded on two principles...
The Lotus – non-attachment
The Lotus is one of two species of aquatic plant in the family of Nelumbonaceae.
These amazing plants have the ability to regulate the temperature of its flowers similar to warm-blooded animals and as humans do.
Ever since ancient times the lotus has been a symbol of non-attachment and purity. The flowers of a lotus are beautiful, even if they “grow from mud”.
Non-Attachment means to let go of how we are feeling about certain things that are no longer serving us. This is the lotus flower.
The Patch – mend or repair
To patch is to repair, to mend or to put together. We may patch together clothing. We may write a patch for a computer program.
In his book “The Brain that Changes Itself” Norman Doidge explains neuroplasticity and the remarkable capacity we have to reshape the neural connections in our brain to restore, revive, recover and rebuild a life that is worth living.
Thus we are also able to repair or mend out mind and our thinking to:
- Manage anxiety and depression
- Develop resilience
- Improve our awareness
- Decrease vulnerability
- Improve our relationships
- Reduce stress
- Deal with pain more effectively
- Effectively regulate and control our emotions
- Improve our confidence and self esteem
- Clarify understanding
- Modulate the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder
