Our Classes
Ashtanga yoga (beginners mysore style class)
*MUST BE BOOKED - SPACES VERY LIMITED*
No drop-ins or one-offs please. Only for students who have completed an Introduction to Ashtanga yoga course.
This is what sets Ashtanga yoga apart from all other styles of practice. The teacher will guide you through how the Mysore style class works and get you started with a few basic postures and then help you work on them at your own pace.
Based on how this practice is taught in Mysore, India, this group, self practice class has more verbal and hands on assistance from the teacher who guides you on a one to one basis.
Each student gets the individual attention they need to develop their practice - like a private session but in a group setting.
This class is suitable for all levels and pregnancy. Please contact us first if you are pregnant to discuss.
Ashtanga yoga (beginners)
Slow and steady wins the race. With lots of modifications and options for the beginner student, we take our time and guide you through the first half of the ashtanga yoga first series (a set sequence of postures that focuses on realigning the body back to balance between strength and flexibility).
Once the Introduction course is completed, attend this class for between 4 and 16 weeks to continue to get a good fundamental understanding of the first half of the ashtanga yoga first series of postures. Or attend if you can't make it to one of our Intro courses to get the basics down pat.
Suitable for those who are just starting out, or who have injuries, those who haven't practiced in a while or those prefer a slower paced class with more instruction and demonstration.
This class is not suitable for pregnancy.
Ashtanga yoga (full series)
Suitable for those who have been practicing yoga for at least six months or those with a sense of adventure as there is little teacher demonstration.
Students are guided or led through the full primary series sequence of postures. Everyone practices the same postures at the same time as the teacher calls the postures and breathing in the traditional vinyasa count. It is challenging and leaves little room to think about the demands of your day...get ready to sweat!
This class is not suitable for beginners, those with injury or pregnancy.
Ashtanga yoga (half series)
Ready to move on from the beginners class, attend this class for between 4 and 12 weeks to embrace the flowing nature of the practice of the ashtanga yoga primary series (first half). The focus is on good technique, understanding the correct sequence and coordinating the correct breath with the postures. Great for those who are keen to get their
energy flowing and need less teacher demonstration.
Students are guided or led through the first half of the primary series sequence of postures. Everyone practices the same postures at the same time as the teacher provides modifications and demonstration.
This class is not suitable for pregnancy.
Ashtanga yoga (mysore style class)
*MUST BE BOOKED*
Rolling start time...i.e start anytime within the first half an hour and aim to finish your practice by the end time. If you are unsure when to start please contact Allison.
This is what sets Ashtanga yoga apart from all other styles of practice. Suitable for those who have been attending the beginners mysore class for a month or the guided classes for at least three months and/or have knowledge of the ashtanga yoga sequence.
Based on how this practice is taught in Mysore, India, this group, self practice class has more verbal and hands on assistance from the teachers who guide you on a one to one basis. You will be personally guided but have time to explore for yourself too.
When the student needs guidance, the teacher assists. It's not a guided class where everyone does the same posture at the same time, instead everyone does the same postures, just at their own pace. Everyone practising together, you start to feel the postures for yourself instead of having the teacher tell you what you should be feeling.
Each student gets the individual attention they need to develop their practice - like a private session but in a group setting. This class is suitable for all levels and pregnancy. Please contact us first if you are pregnant to discuss.
