How can counselling help me?
You will learn to open up to the counsellor and speak about whatever is troubling you. Some clients have no-one else to speak to about their problems and feel extremely relieved to "get things off their chest". We assist you to move forward, set goals and find confidence to make positive changes.
I have never been to counselling before. What can I expect in a counselling session?
- You will be listened to with empathy and without judgement
- You will learn about the different counselling therapies that we use, such as narrative therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy.
- We will provide psycho-education to help you understand how, or why something is happening
- We will develop an individual treatment plan based on your individual circumstances
- You may be given 'homework' tasks to practice things between sessions and then review these in a following session.
What are the benefits of seeing a counsellor?
- You do not need a referral from a GP, or a Mental Health Treatment plan.
- We have shorter waiting lists than some other health professionals.
- Your counselling session is not recorded in your Medical records.
- Counsellors use a range of evidence-based therapies to suit your individual needs.
- You may be eligible for private health fund rebates.
- There is no limit to the number of counselling sessions (it is up to you).
