About Leonie

Leonie is a graduate of the University of Newcastle with majors in English Literature and Education – within her Education Major she studied Psychology, Philosophy and Sociology. Her strong interest in helping those with learning difficulties led her to then complete a four-year program in Educational Kinesiology. She then turned her attention to studying human behaviour and interpersonal relationships by completing a two-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Group Work with Relationships Australia, as well as a three-year Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Group Work in Process Oriented Psychology.

Leonie is is a qualified Sand Play Therapist holding a Master of Sand Play Therapy, through Sand Play Australia. She is a Clinical Counsellor through The Australian Counsellor’s Association (ACA), and a Professional Clinical Supervisor and Member of the ACA’s College of Supervisors.

Leonie uses various behavioural therapeutic modalities in her work including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/mindfulness
( CBT ).

Leonie is committed to excellence and to lifelong learning and has successfully juggled the work/life balance. She is married with 3 daughters, 2 stepdaughters, and 7 grandchildren, and brings a wealth of personal experience with her to compliment her professional life.
