“Amy Walsh is the director and founder of Leap Back Physio. She has over 17 years experience working as a physiotherapist with a focus on sports injuries and management. She graduated from La Trobe University as a physiotherapist in 1999 and has worked in both the public and private settings in the UK and Australia.
Amy’s philosophy is to be able to assist all patients towards achieving their goals, whether that be rehabilitating from an injury, going back to the gym, playing in a grand final, maintaining a fitness program or competing in a national swimming competition. She has a strong focus on manual therapy techniques and particularly enjoys treating all lower limb issues and shoulder injuries. Amy looks forward to helping you leap back to your ultimate goal.”
Amy’s experience includes 6 years working in London in both hospitals and private practice and 5 years in a Melbourne private practice as the lead physiotherapist. Amy has also completed a Masters module in triaging for physiotherapy at University of London and in 2010 completed the Level 3 APA sports physiotherapy course. She also received her dry needling and musculoskeletal acupuncture training in the UK and is able to utilize these skills in her treatment. Amy is currently undertaking her Sporting Physiotherapist titling exams in 2017.
Amy has worked with athletes from all levels in many different sports, but most recently as a physiotherapist for Swimming Australia travelling with the Australian team for the Junior Pan Pacific championships in Hawaii. Her past sporting experience also includes physiotherapist for Harlequin Rugby Union Club for 2 years and Hawthorn Cricket Club for 3 years. Amy has previously been involved with MLC Aquatic and Surrey Park Swim Club, and has assisted with screenings, injury management and providing pilates to some of their swimmers.
Amy is experienced in multiple areas of physiotherapy including post-operative rehabilitation, fracture management, acute neck and back injuries, pre and post pregnancy pain as well as all sporting injuries.
Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on posture, core stability, balance, strength, and flexibility. The Pilates Method was originally developed by Joseph Pilates but has been adapted clinically by physiotherapists to make it more functional to your daily activities.

We only treat one patient at a time and our appointments are longer (30 minutes standard and 45 minutes initial ) to allow us more time to completely assess and treat your injuries.
Our 3 physiotherapists are highly experienced with a minimum of 17 years experience working in physiotherapy.
Our 3 physiotherapists all specialise in different areas so between us we are able to treat and provide optimal care to a large variety of conditions.
We have male and female practitioners in case you have a preference.
We are available on all evenings and on Saturday mornings to allow flexibility.

Catherine Barber
M. Physiotherapy, APA Member
Catherine has been practicing in Melbourne and country Victoria for 16 years, in both the hospital and private practice setting. She has completed a postgraduate (master’s) degree in Musculoskeletal
Physiotherapy, and has worked under the guidance of multiple Titled and Specialist physiotherapists. She is a member of the APA, including the sports, musculoskeletal and aquatic special groups. Catherine has many years of experience teaching pilates based exercises for both health and fitness, and also in specific rehabilitation programs.
In conjunction with specific exercise rehabilitation, Catherine is a strong believer in hands on treatment to assist with optimal recovery times for the patient. She has extensive experience in rehabilitation, including sporting injuries, spinal complaints, accidents and post-operative management, neurological conditions and “everyday niggles.” In her spare time, Catherine loves to keep fit by running and practicing yoga for optimal muscle health. She looks forward to helping you bounceback from your injuries.

Ian Falconer
M. Physiotherapy, APA & MPA Member
Ian has 22 years’ experience in private practice and has developed a special interest in musculoskeletal conditions with a primary focus on assessing, treating and managing spinal, pelvic and shoulder conditions. He has a preference for manual techniques and teaching self-management strategies.
To further his understanding of the growing body of knowledge in musculoskeletal physiotherapy Ian started a post- graduate degree through
La Trobe University in 2012. He successfully completed the Post-Graduate Certificate in 2014 and is now enrolled in the Master’s program which has necessitated his move to Melbourne from the Blue Mountains of NSW.
Ian graduated in Physiotherapy from Sydney University in 1993 and practiced in the public hospital system for 12 months before establishing his career in private practice. Prior to that he completed his Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and worked in a rehabilitation gymnasium as well as teaching.
Leap Back Physiotherapy allows Ian to work within a team of highly skilled and like-minded therapists who are passionate about providing the best of care for all clients using evidence-based principles. Ian looks forward to helping you to reduce your pain and leap back to your goals.
