ABOUT BARBARA
When I was a child my parents would always take me to a naturopath whenever I had a health complaint. It fueled my love of natural medicine and I went on to study Naturopathy and Health Science. Over the years as a Naturopath I've been in clinical practice and taken on educational roles both in Australia and the United States.
I founded Lavender Sleep and Wellness after having my first child. The many sleep struggles and health challenges I personally experienced after the birth of my child, and the sleep and health issues my daughter has had, have led me to focus on sleep and children's health, from infants to teens, along with the health of all members of a family. I am a Certified Sleep and Wellbeing Specialist, Possums Neuroprotective Developmental Care Provider and Educator and an Accredited Gut Ecology & Metabolic Modulation (G.E.M.M) Practitioner. I am currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Psychology.

Health and wellness for the whole family
Naturopaths take a holistic approach and look at the whole person, addressing the underlying causes of disease and dysfunction. Through the use of nutritional supplements, dietary and lifestyle advice, homeopathics and herbal medicines I seek to remove obstacles to restore you and your family to optimal health and wellness.
Sleep
Sleep is one of the three pillars of good health, along with diet and exercise (and in my opinion there is a fourth pillar - connection to others). Sleep often doesn’t receive the same amount of attention as the other pillars. However, poor quality sleep can have far-reaching effects, being linked to a host of issues including obesity, insulin resistance, memory and cognitive impairment, behavioural issues and more. Without good sleep our health and wellness is impaired.
I look for the causes of sleep dysfunction and encourage healthy sleep habits. There are many things that can upset sleep in big and little people: gut, hormonal and circadian health, relationship issues, environmental, nutritional and lifestyle factors and breathing and structural issues, to name a few. My aim is to find and address the underlying contributors to poor sleep, educate and empower you on your journey to better sleep and wellness.
