Kim Pearce is a professional counselor and psychotherapist with a nursing background of over 30 years of experience, especially dealing with cancer-affected people's psycho-social support needs, whether they be medical, family or friends (often those coping with loss and grief).
Since completing doctoral studies in psychology and psychotherapy at the Jansen Newman Institute, Kim's clinical training has been in interpersonal psychology as well as leading face-to-face and online support groups for cancer for nine years.
Kim's earlier research was in community nursing where she worked with people from all walks of life dealing with chronic illness, or the impact of illness on their daily lives.
Kim understands that the effect of chronic disease on life and who they are will change their perspective for many people. What is "natural" has gone away for them, often causing personal and relationship problems, reducing their full potential. Understanding how people respond to change, whether from health related issues or life’s circumstances, is fundamental to her practice.
