Caroline is a registered osteopath and member of the Australian Osteopathic Association. She has lived and worked in Sydney, Melbourne and England, and now happily resides here on the Surfcoast, and is a long standing member of the team at Karuna-maya Medicine. Caroline works with people from all walks of life, and all ages and stages, helping them to manage their musculoskeletal pain, and supporting them to live well. Caroline uses a broad range of techniques so she can adapt these to suit each particular client.

What is Osteopathy?

For those of you not familiar with osteopathy, it is a holistic form of manual medicine that focuses on full body health by working on the musculoskeletal framework, which includes the joints, muscles and spine.
Osteopaths undergo five years of university training and are government registered, allied health professionals.

What do osteopaths treat?

Osteopathy is best known for the treatment of musculo-skeletal problems, such as low back pain, and neck pain. Some conditions and diseases can result in musculo-skeletal symptoms. Osteopathy can sometimes be used as supportive therapy to help manage these physical symptoms, so if you feel you may be in this category, please discuss this with your GP.

What to expect from an osteopathic treatment
Your initial consultation is approximately an hour. This allows time for
  • A thorough case history
  • An examination of the body to help assess the problem and form a diagnosis
  • Discussion of a treatment and management plan, which may include home management advice
  • Caroline uses a broad range of hands-on treatments, including soft tissue massage, stretching, articulation, mobiliisation and manipulation of joints.

Depending on the condition, follow-up osteopathic treatments may be required. A follow up appointment is 30 minutes.

Health Funds
Osteopathic treatment is covered under the ancillary or extras cover of most major health insurers. Ask your health fund.
