What is Transpersonal Art Therapy?

Transpersonal art therapy is a holistic type of counselling service that can heal and transform your life. Using meditation, collage, claywork and drawing, your creative side is tapped into, exploring the mask between the inner and outer self. There is no prerequisite to be able to make a collage, use clay or draw; it is the expression in the art, not the artwork quality that is significant.

Transpersonal art therapy uses a person-centred approach with the belief that you already have all the answers. Resources and tools are given that enable you to create a world of knowledge and understanding of self. Art therapists work with all ages, from children to the elderly in both group and individual (one-on-one) sessions.

What happens during a session?

After a short informal discussion you are encouraged to create an artwork around challenges you may be experiencing at this time. A dialogue is then encouraged, although not insisted upon, around your perception of the artwork. This can bring clarity, awareness and direction to your life. I do not interpret what is in the artwork, this is a non-judgemental process where your experiences are respected and valued as your own.
