Jade Buddha Herbs - Acupuncture and Moxibustion
Focus areas
The underlying principle in Chinese traditional medicine is the concept of yin and yang and vital energy (qi). Using this theory, there is a network of energy pathways (meridians) in the body through which blood and qi circulate.
Acupuncture can be used to help a wide range of health conditions by affecting certain points on meridians, which form an intricate network on the surface of the body and is interconnected with the body’s internal organ system.
It has been proven through modern research that stimulating the acupuncture point effectively triggers the body’s own repair mechanism by enhancing the production of endorphins and stimulating the endocrine and immune systems.
Acupuncture can assist a wide range of health issues including;
- Respiratory - acute sinusitis, acute tonsillitis and asthma.
- Pain Relief – knee pain, sciatica and neck pain.
- Gynaecological/Renal – infertility, IVF support and menopausal symptoms.
- Gastrointestinal – constipation, indigestion and nausea and vomiting.
- Cardiovascular – hypertension, hypotension.
- General – diabetes, chronic fatigue and obesity.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is commonly utilised in conjunction with acupuncture. Moxa is able to be used on its own or in connection with acupuncture needles; its primary use is to highlight where the body’s energies require warming or toning or to assist in the clearing of stagnant qi.
Moxa sticks are rolls of paper that contain shredded moxa fibres that burn very slowly. The application of moxa can be a very relaxing and pleasurable experience.
