I work with people using simple, yet profoundly effective tools that are accessible to everyone. In a session you can expect to experience scientifically based sound healing techniques in order to re-balance and nourish the autonomic nervous system, or to engage in the expressive arts therapy procedures in order to regain a sense of empowerment, autonomy, and self-determination through creative self-expression.

For the last 10 years I have been working with a wide variety of people of all ages looking to bring in more wellbeing, clarity, inspiration and connection to their lives. I have also worked within our vulnerable population including children with autism, adults who live with mental illness, the neurodiverse community, physical disabilities and chroinc conditions, parkinsons disease, cancer, and domestic violence survivors.

Everything I share with others is what I have used for myself on my own healing journey. I believe because of my lived experiences, I have a deep empathy, and understanding towards the plight of others.  Using my highly attuned sensitivity, intuition and insight, I love helping people connect back to themselves through enhancing what is already within them, to discover their own natural creative process, healing abilities, and innate wisdom.

Art Therapy

Expressive Arts Therapy is grounded in the humanistic principles that all people have an innate ability to be creative, and that the process of creation can be profoundly transformative.  Creative expression and reflection is used as a mechanism for personal growth as it can elicit greater self-awareness, self-understanding and insight. This can be a powerful tool for psychological, physical and spiritual wellness.

The Expressive Arts incorporates various art modalities, (which allows us to tap into different ways of knowing) such as:

  • VISUAL ARTS: Painting, Drawing, Collage, Photography, Clay, Sculpture and Installation
  • SOUND: Healing Sound Instruments, Self-created Sounds, Humming, Toning, Singing, Music-making, and Deep Listening
  • WRITING: Poetry, Prose, Creative Writing and Journaling
  • MOVEMENT: Authentic Movement, Tai Chi, Dance and Gesture
  • DRAMA: Improvisation, Storytelling and Role-playing
  • ALSO: Meditation, Mindfulness, Spirituality and Active Imagination

My approach falls within the person-centred and trauma-informed practices, tailoring each session to the person’s individual needs. My sessions aim to be inspiring, empowering, and healing. All art materials are provided, and there is no need for experience in art making!

 

Energy/ Sound Healing

Using different healing sounds including Tibetan Singing Bowls, Tuning Forks, Drums, Chimes and Voice, I facilitate an experience that leads you into your own inner-journey of self-healing.

Sound travels as a wave, enters our ears and travels through our auditory pathways into our brain, ultimately affecting our breathing, heart rate, and nervous system. These waves also pass into our body, affecting us on a cellular level. Studies have shown that healing sounds can have powerful physiological effects such as; reducing stress levels, enhancing sleep, lowering blood pressure and heart rate, increasing oxygen in cells and lymphatic circulation, melatonin production, and the release of oxytocin and endorphins. Research has also indicated that listening to soothing sounds can help in reducing stress with those suffering from Post-Traumatic stress disorder.
