COURSE OPTION #1: CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling

Immerse yourself in a comprehensive learning experience with 13 core and 4 elective units of study  

Core Units

Core Units covered include:

1. CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety
2. CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically 
3. CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice 
4. CHCCCS019 Recognise and respond to crisis situations 
5. CHCCSL001 Establish and confirm the counselling relationship 
6. CHCCSL002 Apply specialist interpersonal and counselling interview skills
7. CHCCSL003 Facilitate the counselling relationship and process
8. CHCCSL004 Research and apply personality and development theories
9. CHCCSL005 Apply learning theories in counselling 
10. CHCCSL006 Select and use counselling therapies
11. CHCCSL007 Support counselling clients in decision-making processes
12. CHCCSM005 Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management

Elective Units

You would choose 4 of the following:

• CHCCCS014 Provide brief interventions 
• CHCCCS017 Provide loss and grief support 
• CHCMHS001 Work with people with mental health issues 
• CHCCCS003 Increase the safety of individuals at risk of suicide 
• DCHHYP501 Work within a clinical hypnosis framework 
• CHCFAM003 Support people to improve relationships

COURSE OPTION #2: CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling with a Clinical Hypnosis specialisation. (exclusive to IAP)

You would complete the above-listed core units and swap the standard electives for the following Clinical Hypnosis units:

• DCHHYP501 Work within a clinical hypnosis framework
• DCHHYP502 Prepare for clinical hypnosis session
• DCHHYP503 Prepare for clinical session
• DCHHYP504 Monitor and evaluate clinical hypnosis interventions*

Additional fees are payable if the Clinical Hypnosis specialisation electives are chosen, due to the units costing more than CHC units, and the need to attend 4 days of practical sessions (please see pricing below). * Students choosing the Clinical Hypnosis specialisation must attend a 4-day Clinical Hypnosis Practical Workshop (synchronous, face-to-face via Zoom).
