Massage is the therapeutic application of touch using a range of movements or strokes upon the skin, muscles and joints. It is an ancient practice originating from both western and eastern cultures. A holistic massage is to rebalance the whole body, by treating the whole person it aimes to relax the muscles, calm the emotions, improve circulation, recharge the body’s immune system, refresh the spirit, balance the life forces and, thus heal the patient. This is acheived by the use of relaxation techniques, the playing of calming music, the application of essential oils, and, most importantly, listening carefully to the client in a holistic manner.

Traditional Chinese massage

The principle of traditional chinese massage includes balancing yin and yang, regulating the zang-fu organs, dredging the meridians and promoting circulation of qi to activate blood. According to Chinese traditional medicine, any pain or aching is a result of obstruction of the vessels and meridians due to the stagnation of qi and blood flow. Chinese massage is to restore the smooth flow of qi and blood by relaxing muscles and tendons and activating the meridians therefore pain is subsided.

Deep tissue massage

This is a massage by treating and restoring injured soft tissues and promoting their recovery and renovation. It starts off the same as Swedish with long and slow stroke over the areas to be worked on. The aim is to free locked muscles and it generally requires a full body work to gain the most benefit.

Sports massage

Typically used before, during and after athletic events. Sport massage is the manipulation and stretching of muscle and connective tissues for the purpose of enhancing functions of the body such as movement and performance. It enables us to get the most from our muscles.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient chinese method of causing local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. When the cup is placed on the skin for a few minutes , blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place. Cupping is further developed as a means to open the meridians of the body, allowing the energy to travel the whole length of the body.

Reflexology

Reflexology, or zone therapy, is the practice of stimulating points on the feet, hands and ears, in order to encourage a beneficial effect on some other parts of the body, or to try to improve general health. Reflexology is most commonly performed on the feet, moving on to the hands and/or ears where physical restraints, such as veruccas or fractures.

Practitioners believe the foot to be divided into a number of reflex zones corresponding to all zones of the energy of the body, and that applying pressure in the form of massage to "tight" or "gritty" areas of a person's foot will stimulate the corresponding part of the energy body and assist the self-healing process
