Certified Structural Integrator
Focus area
Myofascial Release Massage in Ballina, New South Wales, provides myofascial tissue therapies as well as continuing education courses to train massage therapists in this technique.
Myofascial tissue is present throughout the body. It intertwines and wraps muscles as well as every division of tissue within the muscle. Fascial tissue accounts for 40% of a muscle's weight.
There is almost always myofascial tissue that needs to be released and relaxed where there is chronic or acute pain, limited or difficult range of motion, ongoing stress and tension.
With the Myofascial Release Massage technique, you can often release constricted myofascial tissue way quicker and more effectively than you possibly imagined.
About Howard Rontal
As a structural integrator who has been practising Hellerwork since 1985, Howard knows exactly how to re-align the human body in the earth’s gravitational field to improve posture and eliminate chronic pain. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Michigan in the early 1970s.
In addition to his formal Hellerwork education under the mentorship of Joseph Heller, Howard went on to complete five Hellerwork continuing education seminars in the first three years of his practice and continued to study privately with Heller during that time. Since his original training Howard has taken over 40 continuing education classes
Howard is also certified in Erik Dalton's Myoskeletal Alignment Technique. In addition, he is a Certified Structural Integrator (SM).
Howard has been teaching and expanding Myofascial Release Massage since 1991, in addition to providing musculoskeletal treatments. He's taught well over 300 weekend workshops on the east coast and midwest of the United States. He now teaches these same courses at the Byron Community College.
Howard has trained three other outstanding bodyworkers to facilitate his seminars, which are currently being held in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and several other states.
Manual Therapies on Offer
Hellerwork
This 11-session bodywork program is designed to improve posture while also reducing chronic and acute pain, tension and stress. Howard provides Hellerwork in its entirety:
- Bodywork
- Exercises to increase movement awareness
- Conversation for self-awareness that focuses on different aspects of life related to the body areas being treated.
Myofascial Release Massage
Howard developed this modality, which he calls a "simplified Hellerwork" because it combines strokes from all 11 sessions into a one- or one-and-a-half-hour full-body myofascial release massage.
The fascial tissue is purposefully and directly manipulated, leaving relaxing effects for up to a week after a treatment session. The profoundness of its health benefits will be felt incrementally from session to session. If you enjoy deep tissue massages, you will surely enjoy this one.
Problem Solving
The most rewarding part of Howard's work is assisting people who have tried numerous approaches but have found very little or no relief at all.
He has extensive experience dealing with a wide range of issues and is especially adept at the following:
- Immediate relief of traumatic injuries, say, from auto accidents
- Relief from common health issues such as low back pain, whiplash and other neck pain, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive strain injuries, frozen shoulder and restricted movement
- Boosting athletic performance
- Spine curvature disorders
Because fascial tissue is pliable and Howard's therapy is non-invasive, he can be incredibly flexible in how he approaches your difficulties. He doesn't have to worry, unlike a surgeon, that he may damage a patient trying something that doesn't work. Rather, Howard can always try another approach.
When combined with chiropractic adjustments and physical therapy, Howard's problem-solving approach is also quite beneficial.
