Services
EAGALA Equine Assisted Learning
EAL is a hands on experiential process that allows natural interaction between humans and horses. There are endless ways to apply this approach to personal, professional, and human development.
EAL helps individuals better understand themselves and others, through participating in activities with the horses and then discussing feelings behaviours and patterns. The debriefing process seeks to bridge the horse activities from the arena back to “real life”, inviting people to reflect, analyse and apply new insights. It is ideal for those seeking to develop the tools and strategies needed to make better choices. A great way to experience the benefits of our program for those not requiring therapy.
EAGALA Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
SESSION OBJECTIVES
Individuals gain awareness and insight into better ways of living through the way in which the horse reflects information back to them. Working with horses supports and encourages the identification and expression of feelings and thoughts. Interventions or activities are planned around the concept of the horse’s reflective behaviour, and are tailored to each individual and their assessed needs. The use of horses in the treatment of a multitude of psychological issues relieves emotional and psychological distress and changes destructive patterns of behaviour.
Programs for Life and Growth
The programs are unlike other horsemanship and riding programs referred to as ‘equine therapy’ that focus on learning about horses, their care, and/or horse riding. HorseAccord programs are ethically driven, theoretically comprehensive and deeply integrated experiential learning sessions using the EAGALA Model, where horses truly inspire, facilitate, assist and connect with participants through the HORSE-HUMAN relationship for personal growth and development. There is no riding involved and no experience with horses is needed. The EAGALA Model involves engaging with socially and emotionally healthy horses in strategically designed ground-based activities that are linked to therapy or educational goals, then exploring insights into feelings, behaviours, and patterns to enable the participant/s to learn about themselves and others. The EAGALA Model is tested and subject to ongoing study and development, with a growing body of research supporting its quality of practice, outcomes, and efficacy.
Corporate & Organisations
In order to change things, there has to be a change in perspective, a different vision of things, but sometimes it’s hard to find new angles and distinctions as an observer. That is the biggest benefit of observing and interacting with horses. You will see things like you have never seen them before and this produces a real and lasting change.
HorseAccord offers half-day, full-day, and multi-day workshops and retreats for corporate, not-for-profit organisations, government departments, community, and other groups.
For Professionals
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) may be the catalysts to change you’ve been looking for. EAP provides an evidence based alternative to traditional “talk therapy”. EAP is an experiential treatment modality which challenges clients to actively engage in the process of finding their own solutions. Horses provide immediate feedback to clients regarding their body language, emotional regulation and the impact of their actions. EAP offers powerful and memorable learning opportunities that come through exploring the clients own thoughts, feelings and behaviours, through natural consequences, failures and successes.
