KINESIOLOGY
What is Kinesiology
Kinesiology (the science of movement) combines specific muscle function testing with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine to identify structural, nutritional or emotional energy imbalances in the body, and to apply a range of gentle yet powerful balancing techniques to improve health, well-being and vitality.
Kinesiology identifies factors: (structural, nutritional, emotional) that block the bodys natural healing process.
Ultimately, kinesiology relies upon the muscle feedback system that monitors how the nervous system controls its muscle functions and the energy channels throughout the body (meridians). In this way, it helps the body into a better position to heal itself or reach a specified goal by 'balancing" its energies.
It is thought that all stress, imbalances and blockages in the nervous system can be detected by testing the tension in certain muscles. This is the basis of kinesiology and is achieved using a variety of simple arm, leg and head movements.
Clients remain fully clothed during a kinesiology session.

How Muscle Testing Works
Muscle testing is the main tool used by a kinesiologist and is totally painless. Generally when muscle testing with a client I will be using specific body positioning, for example bending or lifting an arm or a leg, with the aim being to contract a specific muscle. From here, I apply gentle pressure against that muscle; the client then attempts to resist the gentle pressure being applied. The muscle will then either unlock or stay contracted. From the muscle response I can then narrow down the potential underlying imbalance(s), for example, specific energy blocks, emotional stress or muscle imbalances and how to address it.
Muscle testing gives a kinesiologist instant access to information held by the body and the subconscious. Usually inaccessible, the subconscious holds information about your physical, biochemical, emotional, mental and energetic state.
What happens in a Kinesiology Session
A kinesiology session at Healthy Kinect focuses very much on an active partnership between myself (as kinesiologist) and my client to achieve the desired session outcome.
My role as kinesiologist is to facilitate the session: to access the muscle feedback; to identify specific imbalances within the body (physical, nutritional, emotional, energetic) and to determine and apply appropriate balancing techniques. This is achieved by ongoing communication and feedback between myself and my client throughout the session.
A kinesiology session will begin with a discussion around the current issues/goal that the client would like to work with. (A brief medical/lifestyle history will be discussed and recorded in the initial session). Once the goal for the session has been identified I will start muscle testing to access relevant information and feedback about any specific imbalances within the body (physical, nutritional, emotional, energetic). This is done usually with the client lying down, but sometimes seated or standing.
Based on the information and feedback received, muscle testing is then used again to identify the most suitable balancing techniques to address the imbalances found. This could include: specific exercises, nutritional support, stress releasing techniques, acupressure, muscle balancing, massage, or lifestyle changes. Most of the balancing can be achieved within the session, however, at times there will be support techniques (homework) suggested for clients to complete after or between sessions.
Client self responsibility and active involvement are key components of the kinesiology session at Health Kinect.
Kinesiology is gentle but can be very powerful in restoring or maintaining health, wellbeing and that all-important sense of balance. All discovered using your bodys own innate intelligence.
