What is Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine has been around for many thousands of years. In older days in China, when people got sick, they would go into the mountain and harvest plants, brought them home to boil. Emperor Shennong Shi was the founder of Medicinal plants, together with Huang Di (The yellow Emperor), Chinese Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture was founded.神農本草經; Shénnóng Běncǎo Jīng , a book on medical plants, was attributed to Shennong.

Traditionally Chinese Herbal Medicine (raw herbs) used to be boiled(decocted) and prepared for a length of time, nowadays; there are many more forms of Chinese Herbal Medicine: granules, powder, tablets, capsules, balm, tincture, liquid extract & Gao form etc. Combining Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture, result is quicker and better.

When you see a Chinese Herbal Medicine practitioner, a medical history will be taken, followed by taking pulse & tongue, differential diagnosis is formed based on the Eight Principle, (Heat/cold, External/internal, yin/yang, excess/deficiency). Accurate diagnosis with correct information from the patient will make the formulating of herbal formula more successful & effective

Another form is medicinal wine; they are effective in managing arthritis. There are also medicinal balm/cream (mainly for eczema & arthritic pain), & medicinal plaster (for sports injury & pain). If you have acupuncture, you don’t pay for the consultation fee for Chinese Herbal Medicine, it is all included in your acupuncture consultation and treatment fee; you only pay for the extra herbs or other form of remedies as required.
