Habitual Overeating
This is where eating too much has become a habit. Often people have unconsciously stopped noticing the “I feel full” feeling. Most of us do this at some point in our lives. It is sometimes fuelled by beliefs from childhood such as “I always eat everything on my plate”.
As a habit, this is relatively easy to resolve in Hypnosis.
Emotional Eating
This is using food to feed emotions, rather than satisfy hunger. This may involve eating to escape an unpleasant situation or feeling. It can also include eating when feeling stressed, bored or frustrated. Or eating as a reward for achieving something.
In these situations, the eating is a symptom. The cause is often emotions that are being held back in some way. Once these emotions have been identified and released in hypnosis, the need for emotional or comfort eating will tend to drift away naturally.
