How effective is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is extremely effective in treating a wide variety of problems frequently providing relief when other means have failed. It is an excellent allied medical therapy when practiced by a qualified and experienced hypnotherapist .
Hypnosis has been accepted by the mainstream medical institutions. This reflects it’s effectiveness as a form of treatment. Officially recognised by the American Medical Association in 1958, as a form of treatment, then given the support of the U.S. National Institute of Health (NIH) for cancer pain and other pain conditions, there’s little doubt about it’s enormous contribution to healthcare. When used in the context of therapeutic treatment, hypnosis is usually referred to as hypnotherapy.

What is hypnosis? What happens?
Guided by the hypnotherapist’s words, you drift deeper and deeper into a very relaxed and very focused state – where your conscious mind steps aside allowing the subconscious mind to become more and more susceptible to the positive suggestions of the hypnotherapist. In this safe state, your subconscious mind will help you solve problems. When a suggestion is made during hypnosis, the mind gains control over the body.
Hypnosis greatly improves your well-being, corrects unwanted behaviours, habits and clears blockages.
Research from Harvard Medical School and other institutions demonstrate that hypnosis is a process of mind over body where physiological changes occur which activate certain parts of the brain, including that portion which is responsible for focused attention.
Hypnosis works with nerve receptors in the brain, which control sensations of pain, anxiety, and discomfort. Studies have shown pain (related to cancer, surgery, back injuries, and migraines) responds well to hypnosis.
You will not lose consciousness. Nor will you do anything against your will. Afterward, you are very much aware of what happened while you were in that beautifully relaxed hypnotic state.

What’s my next step?
Your next step once you’ve decided that you would like help using hypnosis, is to make your appointments. For optimum life-long results:
- Be prepared to commit to a minimum of 3 appointments (each session after your first, compounds on the previous) – depending on the issue, you may require less.
- Allow plenty of time to arrive for your session so that you don’t feel that you’ve been rushing.
- Don’t put pressure on yourself by having made another commitment, (such as picking up the children from school), immediately after your session.
