What Is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a modern system of medicine based on your bodys ability to heal itself with natural remedies. This holistic system treats the underlying factors contributing to your health problems, not just the symptoms. It uses natural therapies to make you feel 100%.

Our naturopaths have extensive training and education and rely on sound research to choose the most effective treatment to help you.

Where Did Naturopathy Originate From?

Naturopathy is a term that was coined in the 18th century but the basic principles of naturopathic medicine have been in place since the Ancient Greeks. As a therapeutic tool it can be highly effective in dealing with many problems Western medicine cannot adequately treat. It can also help address health problems that dont present with typical symptoms and dont fit neatly into distinct disease categories.

Why Should You Try Naturopathy?

Youll benefit by:

  • Supporting your bodys natural healing abilities
  • Becoming informed to make the lifestyle changes necessary for your best possible health

How Does Naturopathy Work?

Naturopathy uses therapies and techniques (such as dietary and lifestyle modification, herbal medicine and vitamin and mineral therapy) to help your body function normallyas it should. This includes disease caused by factors such as:

  • Allergies
  • Genetics
  • Incorrect nutrition
  • Lifestyle patterns
  • Malabsorption
  • Stress
  • Toxicity

What To Expect During a Consultation

A consultation begins with me getting a list of the symptoms that are troubling you, and a brief health history and that of your family.

Then we do a systems review, which gives me information about various areas of your health such as nervous system, gastro-intestinal tract, respiratory etc. This will give me a more complete picture of your general health which is as relevant as the particular symptoms you are concerned about.

Stress levels are discussed. I use iris diagnosis and blood analysis to identify underlying organ, glandular and tissue dysfunction. Nutrition is always discussed because of its obvious relevance to your health.

From this information I am able to get a better understanding of the cause of problems, and therefore, can apply the correct treatment approach.

Therapies used include nutritional advice, vitamin and mineral supplements, herbal medicine allergy detection or perhaps massage and Bowen Technique.

The goal of this consultation process is to gain an understanding of how to change health patterns and avoid problems recurring. In practical terms that means you should finish the process with advice about your nutrition and nutritional supplements so you can enjoy better health in the future.

This process takes approximately 45 minutes.
